A shot in the dark email in 2019…
Fresh off some trips to the Dominican Republic for video missions, our Executive Director and lead videographer, Nick Haddad, decided to take a chance and reach out to a friend to see if his services could be provided in another part of the world.
Nathan Muse was serving down in Sydney, Australia, and had met Nick when they both lived in England. Nick proposed the idea of creating some videos highlighting Nathan’s work down under, and conversations began to shape into the possibility of it happening…what could go wrong?
Lots of delays and one global pandemic later
There were a lot of hurdles to get through, and things seemed to be slowly moving forward. And then, during one of their Zoom calls, Nathan proposed an idea to Nick.
Nathan had noticed that there was no real piece of media that examined the history and state of the Christian faith in Australia, visually speaking. He proposed to Nick that while he was down there creating videos for Nathan's ministry, he also capture that very story in a long form documentary. Nick would sit down with pastors, church planters, historians, and a very insightful statistician to share the history, struggles, and hope of the Christian faith in the land down under.
So, hot off the heels of becoming a nonprofit, in August of 2023, Talking Dog Film packed their bags, jumped on a 23 hour flight, and landed in Sydney, Australia, to create our very first feature length film.

Three weeks of
filming down under
Nick spent the next three weeks not only capturing the ministry of Nathan and his wife, but also the story of the Christian faith in Australia. Focusing primarily on it’s impact on one of the capital cities, Sydney, Nick started to gather insight into the incredible highs and lows of the Christian faith.
He met some incredible people, learned some fascinating stories, and started to piece together what this documentary was going to look like once he got back to the States. Little did he know that creating a feature length documentary from 8 hours of footage was no tall order. But through grit and grind, the movie started to take shape. Drafts were created, refinement took place, and a final product was finally settled on…
